RV Camping at Camp Margaritaville: A Weekend Full of Weather and Fun
Our latest RV adventure took us to Camp Margaritaville in Auburndale, FL, and let me tell you—it was a trip to remember. From navigating the unpredictable Florida weather to soaking up the sun after the storm, it was full of moments that made the whole family smile.
Arriving at Camp Margaritaville
We rolled in on Wednesday, and the place was surprisingly quiet. By

the looks of things, a lot of people had either canceled or postponed their trips because of the hurricane in the Gulf. But we weren’t about to let a little weather scare us off. The pool and splash pad were still open, so we jumped right in with the kids and enjoyed a mostly empty campground.
Camp Margaritaville had already informed us the day before, at check-in, that the pool, splash pad, and activities would be closed Thursday due to the storm. So, we knew a little bit of what to expect.

The Storm Hits
Thursday brought a steady stream of wind and rain throughout the day, but the bulk of the storm didn’t hit until later in the afternoon. The resort had everything shut down as planned, and we spent most of the day hunkered down in the RV, cozy and dry. Despite the weather, we still managed to keep the kids entertained, and we even squeezed in a quick mini-golf session before the rain really picked up.
Sunshine After the Storm
Friday morning was a total 180. The weather after a hurricane in Florida is usually amazing, and this was no exception. It was 88°, sunny, and all the activities had reopened. No damage, just a little tree debris here and there.
The kids made the most of it by hitting the pool and water slide, and we even had the mini-golf course to ourselves. It turned into a perfect day of sunshine and fun after the storm.

Ending the Day with S’mores
We wrapped up Friday night with one of our favorite RV camping traditions: s’mores. After a few rounds of mini-golf, the boys ran off to play Gaga Ball while we got the fire going. There’s nothing quite like finishing the day with s’mores under the stars.
Living in Florida has taught me that while the weather can be unpredictable, the day after a storm is often something special. And while we enjoyed the calm, we were also thinking and praying for those along the coast who were hit much harder by the hurricane.
Final Thoughts
This trip to Camp Margaritaville was a reminder of why we love RV life. You never know what the weather is going to throw at you, but it’s all part of the adventure. Whether it’s rain, wind, or sunshine, RVing gives us the chance to slow down, enjoy time together, and make memories that last.
If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly spot with lots of amenities (when they’re not weather-closed!), Camp Margaritaville is a great pick. Just pack your sense of adventure—and maybe a rain jacket.
